This children’s home is set in truly magical surroundings located in a beautiful old Hacienda in the Sacred Valley near historic Machu Pichu. It provides a special environment where 30 orphans prosper through education, cultural & performing arts, permaculture, spiritual development, & social and vocational programs. With their own greenhouse, chickens, colourful murals and backdrop view of the Andes Mountains and the surrounding valley this a project for someone who really wants to get away from it all.

Why we need you

Run by an American family, the orphanage relies on funding that has recently been decreased. Because of this the orphanage has had to let go their theatre teacher and gardener and would love to find volunteers to fill these roles! They believe that by providing shelter, organic food, clothing, medical care, education and arts programs that the children’s self confidence and self worth will grow so that they can give back to their community. They are looking for creative volunteers to assist their work in a truly unique environment that aims to provide positive long-term benefits to the regions social and environmental problems.

Price

• £895 for 2 months £250 for each additional month

• £695 for up to one month

What’s included

• Airport collection (to stay with Cusco based family before getting public transport to the orphanage)

Skills needed

• Spanish required or be willing to learn before you go!
• Theatre and drama teaching skills or gardening skills – perhaps you’re good at both!
• The home always benefits from extra homework tutors too.
• Initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm.
• The ability to work independently without supervision
